The Gambia passed the review before three different treaty bodies : The Committee on the Rights of the Child (January 2015), Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (February 2015) and the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (July 2015).

Furthermore, The Gambia went through the second cycle of the Universal Periodic Review in October 2014. The outcome document was adopted in March 2015.
In November 2014, the Special Rapporteur on Torture and the Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions conducted a joint visit to the Gambia. Their reports were presented during the Human Rights Council in March 2015 and in June 2015 respectively.
